2004 Final Results

We are pleased to report the final results for the 18th Annual Cal’s Coats for Kids coat drive.  Our thanks to all who donated or assisted in this year's effort.

 

Total Coats Collected:  6,858

 

In addition to our school challenge as reported below, the United States Postal Service carriers collected 153 coats and 1,484 coats were dropped off at the eight area Owen Cleaners locations.  

 

Our thanks to the Bell South Volunteers and AAA Storage for their assistance in collecting the coats from the schools across the region.  We also want to thank the leaders and scouts of Troop 7 in Paducah, the Keystone Club, and employees and friends of Owen Cleaners for helping us search and sort coats at our main plant.  Many employees of Owen Cleaners will now be involved in washing and cleaning the coats.

 

Volunteers at the various area distribution centers will also be donating their time and efforts over the next few weeks, and we greatly appreciate their tireless efforts in helping to distribute the coats to deserving families.  Distribution of coats begins on Tuesday, October 26th at the following area distribution centers. 

 

2004 School Challenge Results

This year's school challenge results are official!  We are pleased to report that 39 participating schools collected 5,221 coats!  As reported by Cal Sisto this evening on NewsChannel 6, the following schools are the 2004 winners:

Elementary Fulton Co. Elementary 300 Coats
Middle School Calloway Co. Middle School 781 Coats
High School Marshall Co. High School 179 Coats
Extra Effort Award Benton Middle School 2.90 coats per student
$500 Grand Prize Winner         Massac Co. High School 123 Coats

The Extra Effort Award goes annually to the school that brings in the most coats per student.  The Grand Prize winner is drawn from a pool of all schools bringing in 100 or more coats.  This year we had 22 schools entered in the Grand Prize Drawing!  The $500 cash prize is courtesy of Owen Cleaners and NewsChannel 6.  Congratulations to this year's winners!  Complete results by school are listed below.
