IFI Issues Alert on Tommy Bahamas Clothing

The new Tommy Bahamas clothing line has been popular with many of our customers.  However, over the past couple of years we have experienced isolated incidents of shrinkage on certain Tommy Bahamas garments.  Recently we received an alert from the International Fabricare Institute that indicates that drycleaners around the country have experienced similar problems.  The IFI laboratory has apparently replicated the reported problem as well.

As indicated by the IFI, the manufacturer is investigating the problem.  Normally if a garment’s care label indicates that it should be drycleaned, then minimal shrinkage should occur.  This is especially true for silks and other natural fabrics.  Since this problem is still unresolved, we will continue to accept and process Tommy Bahamas clothing—but only with our customers’ understanding that we cannot assume responsibility for shrinkage.  We recommend that such garments be cleaned with our special Luxury service.
