United Way Names Owen Cleaners as Newcomer of the Year!

The United Way of Paducah and McCracken County recently named Owen Cleaners as Newcomer of the Year.  Ms. Cynthia Spears served as the Employee Coordinator for the company when it conducted it's first ever campaign for voluntary employee donations.  The company matched the total of individual gifts to reach a $1,000 combined gift to the United Way.

David Perry, president, expressed his gratitude to Zana Renfro for her presentation to employees regarding the campaign and the many area non-profit organizations that benefit.  He said some employees were surprised to learn that many of the community service organizations that they use from time to time are beneficiaries of the annual United Way campaign.  "We encouraged all employees to consider making even very small weekly gifts that could be withheld from paychecks."

Mr. Perry said that he was pleased with the initial response from employees, and the company will look to repeat the voluntary campaign matched by a company donation in future years.  "Since Owen Cleaners is one of only two locally owned drycleaners in Paducah, we are always looking for more ways to support our community.  Becoming more involved in the annual United Way campaign, is certainly one way to do that."
